We think this because the poem reflects the shape and as soon as we see the poem we could make a guess/impression of what we think the poem may be going to be about. For example, if the graphology of the poem is the shape of a swan, the poem is probably going to be about a swan.

Alliteration is used in stanza 4 with the lines of "Lie Lightless" and "Bleared, Black and Blind". Personification is also used in stanza 8, the description of the "shadowy silence distance grew the iceberg" is personified due to silence not being able to grow an iceberg however it can also be seen as a metaphor.

The use of the alliteration includes the harsh "bl" sound, adding to the negative semantic field which has already been demonstrated throughout the rest of the poem. This is also written in the format of an asyndetic list which makes the negative adjectives all equally as negative.

Our chosen stanza is stanza 9 because the language used is fantasied and its unique in its own way. The phrase "Alien they seemed to be" implies that the sea creatures are "alien " like to the human under the sea. Also the thought of a titanium being able to sink is "alien" like. The line "no mortal eye could see" is suggesting that even the humans can't see what lies under the ocean. Also it may suggest that "no mortal eye" could see the disaster that was about to take place.

My favourite verse is verse number 3 because the a syndetic words draw attention to themselves. It is adjective heavy and it describes the sea worms.

I like stanza 5 because it talks about the beauty and life of the jewellery being destroyed at the bottom of the sea. Like what had happened to the people of the ship. it also explains what happens to the jewellery, about them being bleared and blind. this illiteration gives us the idea of a corpse rotting in the water.

How the poem looks on the page symbolises that the ship is sinking as there is a single line at the bottom of each stanza that is longer than the others. Also there is not much writing above the longer line that represents the water.

We think that it would effect the phsycological side of us and also make us feel confused as the writer chooses to bring a realistic interpretation of the tragedy into the poem yet also chooses to personify the true inner beauty and glory of the tragedy's hidden treasures when talking about the jewels in joy making us feel more secure.
