The inspiration and expiration is related with the volume and pressure. When you do the inspiration, the volume inside of your thorax will increase and the pressure will decrease. The diaphragm and the ribcage move the chest cavity and pull open the lungs to let the oxygen goes into our body, so the volume will increase. The pressure decrease so the air can goes inside to our body. The air pressure is normal, so when the inside pressure decrease, then the air can goes into our body. When you do the expiration, the diaphragm muscles relax, and the diaphragm will bulges up, so it force to push the air out of your body. Then the volume decrease, pressure increase.
