Are we like Judas, whose value of the Lord is just 30 pieces of silver, or are we like Mary, who valued the Lord so much that she was willing to break the alabaster flask, though it meant wasting 300 denarii, or a year's worth of wages?

O Lord. I was reminded that too often we value the Lord cheaply. We can exchange Him for so many things.

But praise Him. He is merciful toward us because He caused to hear this message tonight.

Lord Jesus, we pray that You would be the Most Precious One to us in reality!

In the second year of Darius

When I started memorizing Zechariah 1:1, I wondered why there was this portion in that verse: "In the eight month, in the second year of Darius..."

Tonight's message impressed me that the reason why that phrase was there was because the rebuilding of the temple was brought to a halt. The Israelites were discouraged by the people around them. There were even hired counselors in order to frustrate their purpose!

Indeed, the rebuilding was delayed. But God can never be defeated. It was in such a time that He raised up prophets like Haggai and Zechariah to strengthen the people in rebuilding the house of God.

Haggai rebuked the Israelites, but Zechariah's words were full of encouragement and consolation. His visions were visions of encouragement and consolation.

I was impressed even more when the brother mentioned the verse 1 Corinthians 14:3:

"But he who prophesies speaks....encouragement and consolation to men."

Praise Him we are also prophets! And like Zechariah, we can speak encouragement and consolation to men for the purpose of building the temple, the house of God, the Body of Christ.
