fishes lost their homes and heaps of coral got destroyed and died. it will take months for the reef to recover completely from this incident. The reef is slowly dying anyway and so this just made it much worse. Parrotfish, damselfishes, rabbitfishes, and surgeonfishes actually eat coral. If all their food is destroyed they will have no food and they would die.
