Mrs. Page’s Eighth grade students enjoyed creating and illustrating black out poetry. She said, “The kids told me they don’t like poetry, but really enjoyed this activity after they found poems that related to them or realized that poetry can be fun in different forms.” Mr. Watson from the junior high had students create health related artworks. They learned that art can be calming. 

Second grade students at Red Cliffs Elementary created the animal/hint of habitat Molas (from Panama) scratch art. The 3rd grade made  Freaky Frog Fair books and Eric Carle animal/habitat pictures.  Mrs. Boyd did a cool season tree with her first grade. Students also celebrated springtime with drawings of rabbits and flowers.

Teachers can enhance every subject by making an art connection. BTS Art Specialist Maria Aagard puts in countless hours ensuring that elementary students in Juab School District learn the joy that comes from learning new art skills and using their creativity

Utah Division of Arts and Museums and National Endowments for the Arts Awarded Sponsorship for the 2nd Annual Community Celebration of the Arts on February 26.

 Once again Arts teachers and instructors from the Juab School District and the communities it serves are preparing for the Celebration of the Arts.  Last year the Juab School District along with Juab Fine Arts Council held the first Celebration of the Arts here in Juab County. Since this was the first time anything like this had been done in our area, we didn't know what to expect. It was a huge success. Well over 1,000 people joined in the event that enriched our community and our culture. With over 130 performers in the Junior High Auditorium, and nearly 300 performers in the gym there was something for everyone to enjoy. Music, dance, theater and the visual arts were presented by artists from age 5 to over eighty. Over thirty community and alumni artists, and 100’s of students' artworks were on display in the cafeteria.

 Since last year’s event was so successful the Utah Division of Arts and Museums and the National Endowments for the Arts will be sponsoring the event for a second time.

The front doors will open at 5:30 p.m. to the world of art with the Community, Alumni, and Student Art Exhibit at the 2nd Annual Celebration of the Arts. Over 40 community and alumni artists and art students representing every school in the district will have 100’s of  beautiful artworks on display in the Juab High Cafeteria throughout the event until 8:30 p.m. 

Beginning at 6:00 p.m. in the JHS Gym, enjoy vocal and instrumental performances by the JHS and JJHS Bands, Orchestra, Concert and Madrigal Choirs, Mona Elementary and Nebo View Elementary Show Choirs. The Juab Fine Arts Council, and the JHS Musical Theater groups will perform scenes from Alice in Wonderland and You're a Good Man Charlie Brown. Award winning dancers will perform with the JHS ProVita, JHS Cheer and Stunt Teams, Releve Dance, Nebo Dance Academy, Lisa’s Dance Shoppe and Emotion In Motion Dance. The Sterling Scholars will also share their talents. 

This event is sponsored by the National Endowment for the Arts, and Utah Arts and Museums, and endorsed by the Juab School District, Juab Fine Arts Council, and the Utah Youth Art Month Association. Laurel Adler from the Division of Arts and Museums called to congratulate us on the success of last year’s event and asked if they could feature this year’s celebration on their website blog.
