         <description><![CDATA[<div>Site of our Reading. Crusaders laid siege to the city in October 1097. The siege lasted until June of 1098, after many Crusaders had died of disease and starvation. Several Muslim relief armies were defeated before the city finally fell and was sacked.  Many of the inhabitants, both Christian and Muslim were killed.</div>]]></description>

The city fell in July, and then was subjected to an ethnic cleansing of Muslims and Jews in the city. The massacres became notorious in their size. The fall would begin the Crusader Kingdom of Jerusalem.</div>]]></description>
