Yixiang continued on as the sweet, athletic guy, one who couldn't quite pick a sport. Instead, he'd just act like a cat having zoomies and enjoy being active. More than anything, he was a deeply caring older brother to her. He made it his personal mission to make sure she had a bright smile on her face. If she was happy, so was he.

Yixiang, as the older and protector type of brother had begun to notice how Mei was acting. Answering less at home, keeping to her room, denying some hangout requests from him. It had left him puzzled at first but then read into the signs and started to figure it out. Without making any assumptions, he had just chosen to watch from afar while hoping it doesn't worsen.

One day, their mother had called Yixiang to pick Mei up from school, as she was unable to due to overtime at work and their father was nowhere to be found, as usual.

TW: Bullying, Violence, Accidental death/killing:

The mother sounded concerned over the phone after being unable to reach Mei as her phone got knocked away by the bully group.

Yixiang was puzzled by the behavior, but he did have some suspicion. Yixiang didn't need to go far, having just finished soccer practice nearby. Meanwhile, Meiying had supposedly been studying in the junior high library. What she didn't know was that the same group of bullies had entered the library. From ordering her to do their homework to shoving her around, Mei wouldn't budge.

Sometime later, Yixiang made his way over to the library, hearing ruckus and shouting in the hallway just outside of the area. There were no teachers roaming as they were supposedly in a staff meeting. Once Yixiang was close enough, he'd seen it was one guy and tall, maybe a senior of junior high, he doesn't know or care. Yixiang's gaze landed on Mei on the ground and by the stairs leading to the first floor, in pain, and the next thing he knew, he saw red, stepping between the two. Call it an adrenaline rush. Ignoring the bully's protests, he threw a few punches, got some back in return. Went on for a good few minutes before Yixiang delivered the final move by shoving him, unknowingly down the stairs. Hearing that sickening crack followed by Mei screaming in terror had Yixiang snap out of it. With wide eyes, he rushed to help Meiying up, careful to not worsen any of her injuries.

While on the plane, he ended up befriending the passenger next to him and he learned that they also were moving to Japan but needed a roommate so Yixiang took his offer. During one of the convos after it appeared the duo had things in common, when Yixiang was asked for his name, he paused for a moment before deciding to introduce himself as Nicholas. Nicholas Wang. Named after a sports celebrity he followed for a while.

Years passed, and Nicholas had slowly grown accustomed to his new life in Japan. He was now 24 and the roommate who had once been a stranger on a plane became someone he trusted, someone who knew him only as Nicholas. However, Nicho still kept certain details about his life a secret and everything was going fine and swell. His roommate wanted to invite Nico to hang out with him at a speakeasy as it had been a little bit since the duo's free time aligned enough for them to have fun together. Nico was free and the roommate knew it, but Nico still denied. It was only what-- the 6th attempt at inviting Yixiang? But no luck. Again.

Nicholas gazed over, shocked of what to say but the roommate continued on, Nico wasn't busy. He just refused. Was this all built on a lie?

They had known each other for 6 years now, yet sometimes it felt like they barely knew each other at all. Many attempts to get closer to Nico was met with another excuse, another wall being put up between them. What started as a simple disagreement quickly turned into years of unspoken frustration finally spilling out. The roommate questioned why Nicholas continued to push him away, while Nicholas struggled to explain something he had never been able to put into words. Nico started to throw verbal responses back, "You're making this into a bigger issue when it isn't." Nicho had answered back with, getting frustrated that this is going nowhere. The room fell quiet for a moment. After a pause, Nicho pushed himself off the couch and made his way toward the kitchen, wanting to end the argument before it went any further but the buildup tension got to a breaking point. Nicholas turned to leave, unable to continue the conversation any longer. However, his roommate wasn't ready to let things end that way. In a moment of frustration, he reached out to try to gesture Nicho to stop and let the two talk this out.

"Wait—"

was all the roommate could mutter out as Nico pulled away instinctively, his body reacting before his mind could process it. The sudden movement caught both of them off guard, and the next thing either of them knew, Nicholas was losing his balance. The roommate had tried to catch the Taiwanese male but missed. There was a sharp impact as Nico fell, followed by a heavy silence...

⤷ summary of plot: Yixiang's bored and wandered onto Earth and without much of a plan he laid his gaze onto you, wishing to start some mischief in your life today. How would you react?

Before he could plan for what to do next, Meiying had already moved by quietly gesturing him over towards another exit by going down a different set of stairs, to lead them away from the scene. Yixiang stared for a second before following without any questions or comments. The siblings moved wordlessly, all the way to Yixiang's car, getting in like nothing happened.

The drive home was silent. Neither sibling spoke, the events of the day hanging heavily between them. He could barely recall the drive and by the time they arrived home, Yixiang had forced himself to act as normal as possible. Meiying was safe now. That's all that matters.

He sat on Meiying's bed as the siblings were now settled in the comforts of their home. He kept her in a side hug embrace as he reached for his phone, hesitant for a moment by blankly staring at the screen before dialing their mom.

"Hey mama, I picked Meimei up. We're home now."

"...yeah, she must've just gotten lost in her studies and didn't hear her phone."

" okay, I'll see you at dinner. Love you, bye"

After Yixiang ended the call, he pulls Mei into a full embrace, quietly reassuring that everything is okay while staying by her side as he was unable to bring himself to leave her side just yet. While hugging one another, Mei notices his hands are shaking, "Ge...are you okay too?"

"I'm okay. You just worry about yourself for me, alright?"

Meiying didn't say much after. The two stayed close to one another.

Eventually, their mom calls them down to eat as she had brought food home. Yixiang helped Meiying out of the room and the two walked downstairs normally, greeting mom like they usually would. The family sit and eat, mom telling a fun story and everyone's smiling. Yixiang and Meiying exchange glances for a subtle moment but nothing much. They all finish their meal and clean up, with Yixiang making his way upstairs into his room like usual. Once the door is shut, the smile he had forced out instantly faded. He was left in silence once more. No one to reassure but himself.

Once he was alone in his room, the weight of everything that happened replayed in his mind. Instead of trying to sleep it off, He went ahead and started to pack a bag with only the essentials needed. He had to go. Mei was safe, mom can protect her. It's okay. It's not. He didn't bother to write a note. No words would come out. Too much guilt clouded his mind. He grabs a hold of his bag and stood up, taking one last look at his room before stepping out.

Thankfully the hallway was quiet. Too dark and quiet. As Yixiang made his way downstairs, noticing that the others are fast asleep by now, he hesitated for a minute at Meiying's closed bedroom door. Take care of mom and yourself for me. Just a minute later, he made his way downstairs and through the backdoor, locking it behind him.

More time flew by as he eventually woke up and was instantly hit with fiery heat wandering through the air. Faint voices trying to call out to him as he stood up with a groan, head aching but when he reached to feel for any blood, there was none. He looked around at where he was, a dark castle with no windows where one could instantly look outside.

Fire. Smoke. Ash. Terror.

A stranger's voice called out to him and Nico answered. The demon helped him out the best to his abilities, eventually leading to Nicholas discovering his ability to manipulate the shadows in his own unique way. The feline way, like a cat who lurks in the dark and causes mischief if necessary. He struggled with his umbrakinesis at first but gained control.

Now, 496 years pass as Nico now freely roams hell, thriving contently as a cheshire-style demon. Occasionally flying up to Earth to find his own 'mice' to play with in his free-time.

After a little while, he needed a break and shifted into a cat to reserve his energy. He'd ended up falling asleep and woken up to unfamiliar voices and saw its (muse). Your muse wandered over thinking it's a stray or "omg the cat distribution system has reached me??" and takes him. 😭  Nicho is confused at first HAHAHS but he rolls with it. Eventually gaining the idea to start to mess with (your muse).
