While the South was unified under Giuseppe Garibaldi. For the betterment of there country these two came together to unify Italy. They both left there position of power as so one king could rule over all rather than two separate ones. After the Napoleonic war, The Prussians fought and took the land back from Napoleon. As the rivalry increased between Austria, the Unification of Prussia and Austria became a need more and more. Because of revolts among the people the then king of Prussia appointed Otto von Bismarck who wanted to expand Prussia.
