I always struggle with how much translation to give and finding a balance what can explicitly be taught.   I knew about mouth placements, but I like the idea of a sound wall or cards.  This will be helpful for EAL learners.  I will be applying a lot of this in future.  I might access those facebook groups and try to engage in some of those heated discussions.]]> 2022-07-15 02:01:53 UTC https://padlet.com/erinkentconsulting/k2introreflection/wish/2243797012 A good reminder to focus on translanguage skills and to use home language to scaffold and build knowledge. Also good reminder to focus more time on lower level students and I love the idea of immediately pulling that group once you send the class away for independent practice. I would like to add turn and talk to practice what we are working on to my mini lessons. Usually I just model the new strategy and ask a few questions, then send them off to practice writing it. It's easy to see how beneficial the turn and talk to practice saying it first helps!

My next steps are to use very clear rubrics like you were showing during the sessions to be able to place students exactly where they are and what the next steps are to work toward mastering.
