2) Introduce myself with a slide for the students and go over the syllabus with the students
3) Talk about and practice the procedures of the classroom with students (ex. using the bathroom, coming into class, throwing something away)
4) Start conversation about classroom norms
- Have students rank respect, participation, dignity, position, and power in what they value the most in groups
- Have one student in each group share
-Come up with a classroom norms agreement that will be put on a poster once all periods come to a consensus
5) Tell students to turn in signed syllabus by the end of the week

With this activity, I'm hoping to build on my students' acceptance of identity because I want to ensure that my classroom is a space for all personalities to shine and heard rather than just being a content based classroom. Something that I'd like to share with my students is that I am more than just a teacher, I am a person, and I want my students to express that they have other interests and more to them outside of school. Mud and Ink explains that building relationships is important because "It’s important to me that they’re not coming to a classroom to learn from a stranger.  I share with them, very transparently, my journey to becoming a teacher and how much I love coming to work every day, but also how I love going home to my family and traveling the world" In an English classroom, its not just about content. It is taking our experiences to help us understand the content. Therefore, building that relationship will enhance their learning.

2) In each group, students will take one literary device (characterization, imagery, symbolism) to analyze in the film. Each group will give one example on a slide and will share with the entire class.
3) Students will spend the rest of class writing an introductory paragraph and one body paragraph to this prompt: What is the thematic idea of Bao? 

This activity includes Inclusion because when I student taught, majority of my students were Asian American and showing this film was one of the few representations they had in the classroom. This activity allows students to see representation of themselves in literature and to see how literary devices are transferable to many things in their lives. For instance, the day before was about literary devices in film, this activity illustrates it in literature. 1) Students will complete a journal warm up expressing how they feel about finishing the first week of school through a meme and set goals for themselves. I will share and will get volunteers to share with the class. 
2) The rest of class will be done in an "I do, We do, You do" format where students learn how to write thesis' on Peardeck

The morning journal allows students to express their experience so far in school which will build a safe environment in the classroom. Based on the data of my students' timed writing and their responses to the journal, I will create a Peardeck activity where students learn and practice how to write a thesis.
