Reasons why Patrice Cullors became an activist: Patrice Cullors became an activist after watching how young black men including her brother were often the victim of stop and frisk searches by police even when they were doing nothing suspicious.

This specific group really took off in 2020. BLM was always a group of people you could say but when the death of George Floyd happened, that was the icing on the cake. BLM was created in response to all the racist acts and the police brutality increasing through the years. Cullors became an activist because she witnessed a lot of police brutality growing up and she was also scared for her disabled brother. Growing up black in not only America is challenging but other places as well.

Reasons why Cullors became an activist; from my perspective Cullors became an activist by her childhood and what she went through. She spreads her positivity about racism and talks about her childhood of getting arrested. She sees her brother got arrested for no reason and lack of food.

There’s many who have a misconception when it comes to BLM; there’s some who think that BLM represents that the people of color lives only matter, there’s some who has a perception that because of how the system works and tends to degrade people of color that only white lives matter, however, the entire purpose of the movement is to show that ALL lives matter.

The BLM movement was created to help generations of oppressed black lives but is not limited to all people of color. The movement was made to showcase how white supremecy is still very real even in todays day and age.

Patrisse Cullors became an activist because she had to witness so much racism throughout her life especially when it came to her brother. Not only did she experience this but I believe it was also her time in a white school that really helped put her situation into perspective and with this she could not stay quiet.

I believe that Patrisse Cullors became an activist involuntarily; as she grew into an adult she experienced and witnessed unfair treatment within her loved one’s and others specifically people of color. Firstly, educating herself of past historical events and voluntarily educating her peers in elementary. She then repeatedly notices how unfair treatment continues through the justice system with her biological father, who was put behind bars, after serving his sentence many times; along with her brother, Monte, which struggled with a mental disorder and wasn’t treated accordingly until years later, also learning how other people of color can be killed and receive no justice and so on.
