David is a very nice person because he think about the other uglies safety before his. He tries to bring them in the city of Smoke, where he lives, so they can live peacefully. David is an enemy of the pretty system. He sees the good in everyone, he think you don't have have to be pretty to actually be pretty. To him, being ugly means nothing, it's all about who you are as a person. David is also a very smart and a quick thinker. When he saw is city getting attacked, he immidetly went to his hidding spot so he could free his friends later on from the pretties. In the end, he saved the people of Smoke, his people. David reminds me of Martin Luther King Jr. Martin Luther King Jr. is a person who devoded his life the save his people from racism, the africain-americains, just like David tries to save the uglies. The main reason why I dislike Tally is because she would do anything to become a pretty. She doesn't want to stay an ugly forever and she's ready to betray her best friend, Shay. I personally think it's crazy from her to do something like this. I found it very selfish from her to only think about herself and not about the Smoke. They wanted to be free and to live their lives by themselves even if they were Uglies, but because of her, their lives are in danger. When she was waiting for her surgery, Dr. Cable gave her a choice: to found Shay or to stay an ugly forever. Obviously, she decided to help the Special Circumstance by founding the Smoke. I think what the author is trying to show us is that sometimes actions from someone doesn't mean they necessarily have a bad intention. We just need to try to look at their perception and get under their skin to understand their actions. She reminds me of a guy called Theodore Bagwell in Prison Break because he's also a very selfish character in the television show. During the novel, this theme is really important because since the beginning, we see that the community is divided in two groups: the ugly and the pretty. Furthermore, when Tally is with the Smoke, she keeps talking about how people are looking and we can notice that she's not very comfortable with how they look. Here's a quote that show how she feels about how important it is for her to become a pretty : "Without the pendant, Tally was stuck out here in the wild forever. Ugly for life. Her only way home was to betray her friend." (p.178)

Appearance is becoming way more important that is used to be. Fortunately, the town was burned to hell quickly yesterday, and no ugly can live there anymore.  The outlaws from Smoke were mostly captured and were put in exile, but unfortunately, one ugly wasn't found. It's an incredible and interesting book to read. You'll meet different characters as Tally, Shay, David, Special Circumstance, many others and all of them will teach you something about life. If you'll like to discover Tally's adventure while founding the smoke, if you'll like to learn about Tally and Shay friendship, if you'll like to found about what happens between Tally and David...you should definitely read this book. First of all, she asks Tally to betray her friendship with Shay if she wants to become a pretty. She also wants her to convince the Smoke that becoming a pretty is fantastic and that they should come back to the city. She's in charge of the Special Circumstance. She goes against the idea that the Smoke is right and she's one of the reason why the Smoke existed in the story. Dr. Cable and the Special Circumstance are the opponent of the Smoke, that's why they are the antagonist of the novel. Another perfect example of an antagonist is Darth Vader in Star Wars.  

However, in my opinion, the big difference between these two is that Darth Vader is a character who has a psychological scar that explains his actions. In contrary, in Uglies, Dr.Cable is only following how the society is working. She is not decided what are the rules and what should be respected. At first, Tally was just keeping her promise she made to Peris. That promise was that they would be best friends again but as pretties. But then, Tally met and other ugly named Shay. The two became very close to each other, Shay was almost replacing Peris for a while. When Shay asked Tally if she wanted to leave Pretties Town to go the to Smoke where the Uglies live free, Tally efused because of the promise she made to Peris. Unfortunately for Tally, she still had to go to Smoke to find Shay and bringher back or she wouldn't get her operation to become pretty. After a while, Tally finally made it to Smoke, she met a guy named David. In the end, Tally decided to stay Ugly and live by David side, but she still felt guilty for not keeping her promise she made to Paris. " (...) David's revelation had suddenly made everything much more complicated. The Smoke wasn't just a hideout for assorted runaways, she realized now. It was a real town, a city in its own right. If Tally activated the tracker, it wouldn't just mean the end of Shay's big adventure. It would be David's home taken from him, his whole life stripped away." (p.209). This quote just shows even more how hard it was for Tally to choose her faith.

She was told all the time that if you want to be happy in life, you absolutely need to be pretty. The reason why this was such a huge conflict troughout the book, is because Tally could never decide what was actually the right choice for her. At first, she was sure she wanted the opreration. She even went as far as betraying Shay just to become pretty. Although, by the end of the book, she chose to stay how she was, which is "ugly" according to the pretty community. David was a pretty introverted guy for most of the book, he his a bit shy. He was far from Smoke a lot of the time to find other uglies to "save" from the controlling pretties. I like that we got to see more of his personnality. I realised how intelligent and smart he is. We even got glance of a love relationship between the two, "David held her tigther, triedto kiss her. She had to turn her face away, tears finally coming." (p.309). 

The thing I like the least about part 3 is how long it took Tally and David to comme up with a plan, that actually works, to save the Smikies. Part 3 has about 135 pages, and almost 100 of those were about David and Tally trying to figure how to save their friends and family. She's is the leading character of the book. 
Tally and Shay have similar character traits, but the are also very different. They both like the same guy, wich is David, they also like to break the law. Hey have a lot of differences. Tally is more of a town girl, while Shay is very adventurous. Tally has problems being loyal to anybody, but Shay stays loyal to the uglies. Unlike Tally, she is prideful and thinks that you can be pretty without being “pretty”. Altough they are best friends, the're very different.

They left Shay alone for a few hours so she could think about it a bit further. After a while, Tally gets really tired of Shay not making in up her mind about if she will remain pretty. Tally tries to go anfs confront Shay to convince to come back to her senses, but she gets stopped by Maddy. Maddy already doesn't like Tally because of what she did to the Smokies, so she threatens Tally to tell David about why she really came to Smoke. Tally was so frustrated, that she almost attacked Maddy.

After nightfall, Tally sneaks into Shay's room. She tells Shay that she packed two bags for them and two hoverboards so they could get out of here. At first, Shay was really confused because she thought Tally wanted her to become ugly again. But then, she remembered that Tally wanted to become pretty herself more than anything in the world, so she followed her outside. Tally says that if they hurry up, they could be at Pretties Ville in less than three days. Shay and Tally traveled not very long before they took their first break. Tally asked Shay if she could go close to the cliff next to them and maybe get a few branches for them to make a fire. Shay got up and went next to the sliff to grab a few branches. When she turned around to ask Tally if she had enough branches she saw standing next to her and Tally said, " I'm sorry Shay." Tally pushed Shay down the cliff and killed her.
