  • Can’t do it without a computer for each student
  • Tech issues: wifi, charging, logging in, connectivity is not really an issue anymore

  • Teachers not able to troubleshoot with all the various devices students bring in
  • Difference of what BYOT and one to one means - having a working definition of
  • Training component, someone to help train teachers, supporting teacher on how to use devices
  • Knowing what to do with the devices so it doesn’t become an expensive ws
  • Discussing...How does pedagogy stay at the level we want it while we move to it.
  • Technology contracts, supporting teachers
  • Eventually discussing how BYOT applies to the Student Code of Conduct
  • How do we support parents on how to understand BYOT, what it means and parents responsibility
  • Campus being able to explain how it benefits
  • Blocking sites like Youtube when it is valuable
  • We have some transient populations, what is the consistency of use across campuses
  • District level of security, parents have different tolerances of what their child can watch/look at.

  • Parent Night...so parents could see what students were doing/saw the value...

    • Diversity of access to tech (socio-econ)
    • Getting teachers on board (teachers don't see it as a tool)
    • Being on appropriate sites
    • Taking up devices, and then what?
    • Using them for actual learning (on topic)
    • Teaching teachers how to use it as a tool to go deeper
    • Where to go?  What are the specific resources?  They are not experts on the internet resources.
    • Technology is there, but how do we use it specifically in actual application?  Training needs to be specific to HS classroom needs
    • That training must to include how to address the different access to devices (even just paper) to develop learning
    • Not technology to for the sake of technology… it MUST be for learning (not teaching)
    • Admin modeling of "taking the risk…", 
    • Moving the students' mindsets from "this is forbidden and secret"
