         <description><![CDATA[<div><strong>Spiral Galaxy<br><br></strong>Spiral galaxies get their name from the shape of their disks. In a spiral galaxy, the stars, gas and dust are gathered in spiral arms that spread outward from the galaxy's center. Spiral galaxys are divided into three main types depending on how tightly wound their spiral arms are: Sa, Sb and Sc. Sa galaxies have very tightly wound arms around a larger central nucleus. Sc galaxies have very loosely wound arms around a smaller nucleus. Sb's are between, having moderately wound arms around an average sized nucleus. Spiral galaxies have a lot of gas, dust and newly forming stars. Since they have a lot of hot, young stars, they are often among the brightest galaxies in the universe. About 20% of all galaxies are spirals. We live in a spiral galaxy called the Milky Way.<br><br><br></div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div><strong>Elliptical Galaxy<br><br></strong>Elliptical galaxies are shaped like ellipses (stretched circles). They are divided into eight types: E0-E7 depending on how elliptical they are. E0 ellipticals are nearly circular, while E7s are very stretched out. Elliptical galaxies are made up of mostly old stars, and do not have much gas and dust. There is very little new star formation in these galaxies. Elliptical galaxies also come in many sizes. The largest galaxies we see are ellipticals, but, elliptical galaxies can also be small. About 60% of all galaxies are ellipticals.<br><br></div><div><br></div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div><strong>Irregular Galaxy<br><br></strong>Irregular galaxies have no particular shape. They are among the smallest galaxies and are full of gas and dust. Having a lot of gas and dust means that these galaxies have a lot of star formation going on within them. This can make them very bright. The Large and Small Magellanic Clouds are examples of irregular galaxies. They are two small galaxies which orbit around our own Milky Way Galaxy. About 20% of all galaxies are irregulars.<br><br><br></div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div><strong>Peculiar Galaxy<br></strong><br>A <strong>peculiar galaxy</strong> is a galaxy of unusual size, shape, or composition. Between five and ten percent of known galaxies are categorized as peculiar. Astronomers have identified two types of peculiar galaxies: interacting <em>galaxies</em> and active <em>galactic nuclei </em>(AGN)<a href="https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Peculiar_galaxy#cite_note-3"><sup><br></sup></a><br></div><div>ESO 162-17 is an example of a peculiar galaxy 40 million light-years away in the constellation Carina.</div><div><br>When two galaxies come close to each other, their mutual gravitational forces can cause them to acquire highly irregular shapes. The terms 'peculiar galaxy' and 'interacting galaxy' have now become synonymous because the majority of peculiar galaxies attribute their forms to such gravitational forces.<a href="https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Peculiar_galaxy#cite_note-:1-2"><sup><br></sup></a><sup><br></sup><br></div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div><strong>Barred Spiral Galaxy<br></strong><br>A <strong>barred spiral galaxy</strong> is a spiral galaxy with a central bar-shaped structure composed of stars. Bars are found in about half of all spiral galaxies. Bars generally affect both the motions of stars and instertellar gas within spiral galaxies and can affect spiral<a href="https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spiral_arm"> </a>arms as well. The milky way galaxy, where the solar system is located, is classified as a barred spiral galaxy.<br><br></div><div>Edwin Hubble classified spiral galaxies of this type as "SB" (spiral, barred) in his Hubble sequence and arranged them into sub-categories based on how open the arms of the spiral are. SBa types feature tightly bound arms, while SBc types are at the other extreme and have loosely bound arms. SBb-type galaxies lie in between the two. SB0 is a barred lenticular galaxy. A new type, SBm, was subsequently created to describe somewhat iiregular barred<a href="https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Barred_irregular_galaxy"> </a>spirals, such as the magellanics clouds, which were once classified as irregular galaxies, but have since been found to contain barred spiral structures. Among other types in Hubble's classifications for the galaxies are the spiral galaxy, elliptical galaxy and irregular galaxy.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div><strong>Lenticular Galaxy<br><br></strong>A <strong>lenticular galaxy</strong> is a type of galaxy intermediate between an elliptical and a spiral galaxy in galaxy morphological classifications schemes. It contains a large-scale disc but does not have large-scale spiral arms. Lenticular galaxies are disc galaxies that have used up or lost most of their instertellar matter and therefore have very little ongoing star formation. They may, however, retain significant dust in their disks. As a result, they consist mainly of aging stars (like elliptical galaxies). Despite the morphological differences, lenticular and elliptical galaxies share common properties like spectral features and scaling relations. Both can be considered early-type galaxies that are passively evolving, at least in the local part of the Universe. Connecting the E galaxies with the S0 galaxies are the ES galaxies with intermediate-scale discs. </div>]]></description>
