Martin Luther King Jr entered college at 15 as an early-admission at Morehouse College. He earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology.

1950 - Dr King's Second Degree & Meets His Wife

Dr King was pursuing a Doctoral Degree at Boston University. He met Coretta Scott in Boston, who was a student at the New England Conservatory of Music.

1954 - Dr King's First Job

After Dr King finished his doctorate. He returned to the South, becoming a pastor of Dexter Avenue Baptist Church in Montgomer, AL.

December 5, 1955 - Dr King's Boycott Speech

Dr King spoke to over 5,000 people at the Holt Street Baptist Church on December 5, 1955. Four days before this Mrs Rosa Parks was arrested for refusing to relinquish her seat on the city bus.

1957 - Southern Christian Leadership Conference

In 1957, Dr King and other promient black civil rights leaders founded the Southern Christian Leadership Conference. The organization was founded to end segregation in the south using black churches to organize non-violent protests.

April 12, 1963 - Dr King in Birmingham

Dr King and the Southern Christian Leadership Conference decided to bring the civil rights movement to Birmingham. On April 12, 1963, Dr King and 55 others whom were Black were jailed for "Parading without a permit" during the march against segregation. He wrote the letter to defend the principles of civil disobedience and non-violent protest.

August 28, 1963 - I Have a Dream Speech

Dr King, gave his I Have A Dream Speech on the steps of Lincoln Memorial in Washington DC on August 28, 1963.

March 2, 1965 - In Selma, Alabama

Dr King launched a campaign of civil disobedience in Selma, Alabama, to bring national attention to disempower of black voters in the South. It was a 5 day, 54 mile walk from Selma, Alabama to Montgomery.

April 4, 1968 - The end of Dr King

On April 4,1968 at 6:05pm Dr King was shot dead while standing on a balcony outside his second floor room at the Lorraine Motel in Memphis, Tennessee. The news of his assasination started major outbreaks of racial violence.
