The reason I chose to research Hydrogeologists is because I was interested in what they do and how it is important.

I realised that being a hydrogeologist is a fun job, but it has its ups and downs.

You need to be able to work flexibly and understand people well. You need to have good networking skills to deal with completely different clients daily. You also can't be afraid of getting wet or muddy, as your initial years will be mainly site work.

Lastly, it is also important for you to be a critical thinker and analyser because higher levels of the job require the employee to interpret the reports they receive.

I think Sales Specialists are pretty cool. The job requires you to be determined and have a quick wit.

To succeed as a Sales Specialist, one must be able to convince their client, as well as choose their pitch carefully depending on the customer. It is essentially, a people job where fear of rejection could be fatal to your career.

Sales Specialists need to be level-headed, resilient, polite and slightly manipulative. They must know what product sells best in what crowd.

I think that knowing this information has broadened my vision. I now realise that being a Sales Specialist would be an interesting job, one that is well-suited to me, as I enjoy interacting with other people and am quick at thinking on my feet.

I chose to research the career because I was interested in how studying for a PhD could help you with your career later on in life.

I learnt that being a PhD student is like a job inside a job. I was surprised to learn that you get paid for food, clothing and expenses when you're studying for a PhD. So in a way, studying for a PhD is pretty smart.

It's not all great though. Getting a PhD is a tough, tedious process that requires a lot of determination, focus and ambition so it's not for people with weak willpower. One must be willing to devote their whole time towards their chosen projects.

You do get to plan your day, giving you the freedom to choose how much work you want to do, but you have to be careful not to set your pace too slow, or you might fall behind.

I am motivated to delve deeper and learn more about the struggles and perks of studying for a PhD so I can make my final decision an informed one.
