I think this class is about the different needs that children have. Along with the needs of every individual student comes the proper care a teacher should provide. I think this class gives information on how to teach a variety of special needs students so that future teachers are prepared.

I hope to learn how to successfully teach my students no matter their differences. I also wish to learn what different learning styles can be taught in the process. Furthermore, I want to gain more knowledge over common disabilities/abilities that I may see in my future students.

Do you have preconceived notions about Special Needs Learners? If so, what are they?

I feel like most people think that special needs learners may be difficult to work with. I have worked with special needs students and I personally think that they are very intelligent individuals. I have also read a book with a little girl who was nonverbal special needs and everyone had assumed she was "dumb" but in realty she was one of the smartest in her grade. These students are imaged as not being capable of learning and grasping concepts but some if not most are actually very smart.
