It was the time period of dramatic social and political change. In this time period the nation's total wealth doubled and for the first time ever more Americans lived in cities then on a farm. It made America a consumer society. This time period also started chain stores, listened to music, did the same dances and had their own slang.

But the most important consumer product of the 1920s was the automobile. Women also changed a lot in the Roaring Twenties. They started to wear short skirts with bobbed hair and they drank, smoked and said what might be termed “unladylike” things.
