The issue raised in the text was the fact that the initial tweet made by Adam Selah was retweeted 75,000 times in just 2 hours, and over 800,000 times total. The problem was, the point made in the tweet was eventually labeled not true. "We got kicked out of a @Delta airplane because I spoke Arabic to my mom on the phone and with my friend slim... WTFFFFFFFF please spread."

The article was written about one year ago, January 30th, 2017. One year later, the social conditions of the issue have not changed much, however if anything, the argument has gotten stronger. More and more people around the world receive their news from the internet everyday. On internet services like Twitter, all it takes to share something is a couple of clicks, which makes it incredibly easy to contribute to a false media fire such as Selah's.

The author most likely had a similar experience to this event, because she knew to use a fact checking website. In my experience, I also seek to fully understand a subject and ask questions about my uncertainty before I say something about it. So in both of our cases, our reception of the argument was influenced towards Delta's side.

I do agree with Shepard's last sentence, because it is true. The way social media algorithms work is basically by the amount of clicks posts get. The more likes and retweets on twitter, the more watch time and subscriptions on YouTube, the more money for Adam Selah. No matter if you support him or not, if you get him clicks, the media makes him more popular, giving him more clicks, which gives him more money.
