Activity 1: What did the presenter in the video clip do that makes his business pitch effective?
I could not access the youtube video for this link.
Activity 2: In the padlet, write down ONE thing you can apply to your future presentations.
Start with a bang is something I can apply my future presentation, as I realisation how boring it is when people say "Good Morning, I am blah blah...", thus, I should start with something that makes my presentation unique and lively. Like start with a fact, figure, quote, story or even a video or music.
Activity 3: In your padlet, write down at least TWO learning points from the video.
Always start my elevator pitch with only one sentence by using I help (audience) achieve (value) by doing (how). I also learn that by using a problem as my pitch to sell myself or a product will help people to understand and empathise with me and show the solution that I have come up with, people will be more willing to listen.
Activity 4: Is this relevant to arts managers? How?
This is relevant to arts managers as when asking for sponsorships and grants, arts managers must be able to convince the sponsors why they should sponsor the event, thus arts managers must be able to sell and using an elevators pitch will help to make their presentation much more interesting.

He also catches their attention with the opening statements
2. start the presentation by capturing your audience's attention. Try not to start with the regular introduction and get on with the content of the presentation instead.
3. concise goals to the presentation may grab audiences' attention, start with a problem that some people may face so that they would try to find out how they can solve it. explain things systematically so that people are able to catch onto what you are trying to say and will subsequently pay attention to your pitch.
4. Arts managers can use these tactics to make project ideas more interesting and catch other people's attention. For example, we can use these kinds of tactics to pitch ideas to NAC to receive funding. Instead of a problem we might choose a topic that is interesting to them or something that might fall in line with their arts plans.

He also showed visual comparisons between the car models to emphasise why his 'idea' is better/beneficial.

Activity 2: Be more engaging, ask questions or include quotes to get the audience thinking and interested in the topic at the start of the presentation/pitch.

Activity 3: Introduce a problem to the audience, it creates dramatic effect and relatability to grab the audience's attention. Talking about the value your idea will bring and being confident in it during a pitch will make your audience "believe" in what you are proposing, it will make the audience believe in how your idea can be beneficial.

Activity 4: As an arts manager, being able to pitch an idea to a company, organisation etc. is important.

Activity 1: The presenter used a very interesting and humourous way of getting the audience's attention. Making the audience look up and be engaged led him to continue on his pitch successfully with their attention on him.

Activity 2: Being boring is the most common reason why presentations go downhill fast. Starting with a bang like telling a story to grab the audience's attention is really important so that they are engaged from the start.

Activity 3: Giving the audience an idea of a problem gets them to be involved with the pitch/presentation because people love conflict/drama it's human nature. Another learning point is that being confident is more than half of the battle while speaking. This makes the audience believe you more and trust you.

Activity 4:As an arts manager, it's important for us to be able to relate and create a good relationship with clients especially when we are running an event and are in need of sponsors or people who are willing to donate for fundraisers. We need to be able to have the skills to interact with different kinds of people and be confident with our plans.

Therefore, making the content easily understood.

Activity 4: As an Arts manager, it is relevant because the arts industry is constantly changing so the there are plenty of ideas and concepts being created.

Activity 1
The presenter Use pictures and his speech to make the business more effective. And he will actively interact with the audience. And he will make a boring demonstration interesting. Let the audience want to listen to the whole speech carefully.

Activity 2
The introduction of the speech is very important. An interesting introduction will make the audience curious about your topic. Also, standing posture and gestures are very important. Don't gesture too much during the speech.

Activity 3
When the audience already knows your topic and is interested in it. Then the speaker needs to use concise and powerful evidence to express to the audience. Don't talk a lot of nonsense. This will gradually distract the audience from your speech.

Activity 4
This is of course related to art managers. Because art managers need to attract investment for an art project. You need to have good speech ability to persuade more sponsors to provide funds or venues.

He then goes on to make use of multiple comparisons to help the audience relate to his presentation and stay engaged. He varies his tone and facial expressions to emphasize his points. While some parts of his pitch were said in a humorous tone, others were serious and slowed down to emphasize the important points. The use of wordplay, tone variation, visual appealing slides and expressive facial expressions kept his pitch engaging.

Activity 2: In the padlet, write down ONE thing you can apply to your future presentations.

Starting "with a bang" is something that I would like to improve on my future presentations. Incorporating drama and suspense in the story keeps the audience engaged and wonder about what's next, which is a great starting point for the next idea.

Activity 4: Is this relevant to arts managers? His tone and expression when he emphasis a word makes the audience anticipate what he is going to say next. He also maintains eye contact with everyone in the room and used hand gestures. And his stance made him look extra confident.
2. Use interesting words to catch audiences' attention
3. Tell an engaging story to make a complex idea easy to understand. Start a pitch with a problem because people love conflicts and drama.
4. Yes it is relevant to arts managers as we have to request/apply for grants, sponsors, ideas, etc. We need to be able to present our ideas and concepts in a way that will attract the audience. Apart from changing his expression and voice (tone) he also provide the audience with anecdotes to strengthen his points. His speech was very effective as he was the very opposite of being monotonous.

Activity 2: In the padlet, write
down ONE thing you can apply to
your future presentations.

I think most of my introductions start off in the 'safe' way by greeting my audience and introducing myself, followed by my content. Something I find worth experimenting with is to start off strong. A quote or an anecdote would be a good way to get my listeners to follow through with what I am going to present.

Activity 3: In your padlet, write
down at least TWO learning
points from the video.

It is crucial to identify the ugliness of humanity. One such 'ugly' aspect is the fact that people love problems and drama, they may not want to solve them but they would like to listen to a solution. It would be very effective if presenters can find a problem that will help elevate their presentation to be deem as "useful".

Activity 4: Is this relevant to arts
managers?
