There is ample scientific evidence that life begins at the moment of fertilization: Genetics indicates that fertilization is the moment in which the singular genetic identity is constituted, cell biology explains that multicellular beings are constituted from a single initial cell and embryology describes embryonic and fetal development, revealing how it unfolds without interruption; that the zygote, then the embryo and then the fetus, are not part of any organ of the mother, but are the first bodily reality of the human being, a new and unique being, different from his father and mother; that an abortion is not only the "voluntary interruption of pregnancy" but the "interruption of a human life" said Madrid Declaration of 2009. 

We believe that fertilization of a fetus is carried out by two subjects, a woman and a man, so the decision must be for both, because together they created a family. It is unfair that women make this difficult and difficult decision individually. Men make up 50% of human creation, so making this decision is your duty and your right.

In addition, in the Catholic religion, genuine love is based on when you decide to wait to have intimate relationships, you are training in the school of authentic love, because your desires for intimacy will not be based on the desire to possess the other, but on surrender total.

 

In conclusion, the family union is a sacred bond, which we should respect from generation to generation, performing abortions is a damage to the spirituality of the whole family. “Be fruitful and multiply; fill the earth and subdue it (...)” (Genesis 1: 27-28) This is how God created us in his likeness, since human beings have the power of creation, the power to reproduce ourselves.

People have insecurities about not telling others about their own decision to have an abortion, then it should be understood that you have the right to be treated with respect in the medical environment, in a place where you can speak without interruption and be heard with respect, where your questions are welcomed and where you have support and respect, and where the consultation is confidential.

We need to think about the decision to have an abortion, it must be understood that women are the sole owners of their bodies and their decisions. For example, in comparison to Argentina, in Chile abortion is only available under three grounds (Rape, mother's life is at risk, and life of the fetus is at risk) and is limited, as you have to pay to have access to it, while in Argentina abortion is free and legal, also it is independent of the three grounds, respecting women's decision.

As we know in Latin America the abortion is a really important topic nowadays, we have a specific example: In Argentina, since 2020, voluntary termination of pregnancy is a right for girls, women and all persons with gestational capacity up to 14 weeks of gestation. Beyond 14 weeks, it only allows access to the practice if the pregnancy is the result of rape or if the life and health of the pregnant woman is in danger. When we refer to health, we do so according to the World Health Organization's understanding of health: a state of complete physical, mental and social well-being, and not just the absence of disease.

In conclusion,  abortion can be a good implementation when we think of that as the liberation of the body and the freedom of taking decision on the woman bodies, and in how a pregnant can change the life of these women.
