There are many products on the market that can meet both environmental and performance goals, so you can often select one that has less environmental impact without sacrificing quality or price.  Depending upon the type of paint you select, you can improve the appearance of your building while protecting human and ecological health.  Sherwin-Williams developed a water-based acrylic alkyd paints with low VOCs that can be made from recycled soda bottle plastic, acrylics, and soybean oil.
