Relationship between Hikmah and Ibadah

- In the context of ibadah, it is believe engaging in act of worship can help one of the Hikmah. Ibadah involves not only the performance of physical act but also the cultivation of inner activities such as humility, sincerity and devorship. By engaging in ibadah with the right intention and mindset, one can develop these qualities and thereby acquire Hikmah.

Objective of Hikmah

• helps individual develop a deeper understanding of the religion and to live their lives according with its teachings.

  
  

Definition of Niyah

• Intention or motive behind an act which is to attain Allah's reward and draw oneself closer to Him.

• Importance of setting the right Niyah: helps distinguish between different act of worship and helps one differentiate between the act that solely perform for the saked of Allah and those that are perform for the saked of others.

• Any deed performs without Niyah will not be accepted by Allah.

  
  

How to know if we set a right Niyah?

1. Sincerity: one should perform the act of worship solely for the saked of Allah and not for any other reason.

2. Purity of intention: one should make sure the intention is pure and free from any ulterior motives.

3. Clarity: one should be clear about what they intend to do and why they intend to do it.

4. Focus: one should focus on the act of worship and avoid any distractions.

5. Consistency: one should make sure that intention remains consistent throughout the act of worship.

   
   

Definition of Amal

• Refers to practice of performing good deed and act of worship.

• Amal also believed to have a positive impact on the wider community as it encourages Muslim to engage in act of kindness, charity and service.

• Type of Amal:

1. Salah

Definition of Ihsan

• The positive virtues that considered to be essential for living a good life.

• 5 Ihsan:

1. Awareness: one should be aware of the Ihsan and their importance in Islam

2. Understanding: one should develop an understanding of the Ihsan

3. Action: one should strive to practice the Ihsan in their daily life.

4. Reflection: one should reflect on the action and evaluate whether they are living up to the Ihsan

5. Accusion: over time one can acquire the Ihsan and make them a part of their character and way of life.

MEANING OF KHUSYU'

Literally: The term 'khusyu' in Arabic means calmness, humility, fear and humbleness.

Terminologically: Khusyu' refers to a state of the heart characterized by humility, submission, and attentiveness to Allah during acts of worship, particularly in salah(prayer).

Why Khusyu' Matters in Salah?

• Salah is the second pillar of Islam and a direct connection with Allah

• Khusyu' ensures focus, humility, and sincerity in prayer

What is Zakat?

• Literally: growth, increase, cleanliness and battlements

• Technically: a determined share of wealth prescribed by Allah to be distributed among reserving categories

What Differentiate Zakat and Tax System?

• zakat promotes spiritual purification and social responsibility

Different between Zakat and Sadaqah

ZAKAT:

• zakat is a compulsory act of ibadah

• it is formal and structured ritual in Islam

• Allah specify His receivers' amount, times and methods of payment

• consist of 2 types which are zakat al-mal and zakat al-fitr

SADAQAH:

• it is a recommended act of ibadah

• it is neither a formal nor structured ritual in Islam

• Allah did not specify His receivers time, amount, and methods of payment

• it is inclusive all act of giving such as zakat, infaq, and wakaf.

Significant of Zakat

• mentioned in Quran over 30 times

• for example, in surah At-Taubah verse 103

Virtues of Zakat

1. Tawakul (reliance on Allah)

• zakat is training Muslims to rely on Allah rather than material wealth

• gives assurance that Allah will replaced what is given for his sake

2. Ukhuwah

• foster love, empathy and unity along Muslim

• purify society from envy and hatred

• helps bringing relationships with fellow human beings

• combines spiritual and social dimensions

The Virtues found in Hajj and Umrah

1. Al-Tadhiyyah (sacrifice)

   • sacrifice during hajj and umrah encompasses personal, financial, and emotional sacrifices made for the sake of Allah

   • nurtures selflessness, patience and a deeper connection with Allah by teaching Muslims to place their love for Allah above their material possessions and personal comfort.

2. Taqwa (God-consciousness)

   • constant awareness of Allah's presence, which leads to obedience, humility, and piety.
