This is a synagogue. A synagogue in the Jewish world is a place where Jews go to pray in services and have special ceremonies for holidays and bar or bat mitzvahs . The synagogues have Torah scrolls written in Hebrew (the Jewish language). The Torahs stay in an ark (a special cabinet). A religious leader (usually leads services) is called a rabbi.

Mitzvahs

In the Jewish world when a boy is 13 years old or a girl is 12 years old that child has a b'nai mitzvah (a boy has a bar mitzvah and a girl has a bat mitzvah). When a child has a bar or bat mitzvah they are taking the responsibilities of a Jewish adult.

Passover

Passover is the celebration of G-d's rescue. It takes place usually March or April. The celebration is 7 days. There is a ritual meal and you read religious text to tell the struggle that all of the Jewish people went through before gaining their freedom. People eat matzah because the Jewish people did not have any time to cook the bread so that's why people eat matzah instead of bread.

Shabbat

Shabbat is celebrated every single week and starts Friday when the sun sets and ends Saturday when the sun sets. Shabbat is the day of rest. Everybody always puts away work and sits at home and does nothing all day.
