Some takeaways I had is that addiction is a topic that Chinese government cares about. However, I feel that the restrictions are quite useless. If the children were addicted, they would find ways to break out of the system anyway. Plus, only a small amount of the population is addicted. You can't really speak for everyone when you say that doing this is to "combat addiction". Additionally, students are already facing very stressful environments in school. Shouldn't they be allowed to destress? So why is China limiting this? I really feel that it is very unfair for the children that have to abide by these limits.

There is actually a reason behind this I think...
China is clamping down on stuff like newspapers, websites, devices and games. These might be regarded as not very useful to the leaders of China, and the sectors they are attempting to clamp down are the ones that are making 'too much of a profit'. Hence China could see clamping down on these stuff as 'rebalancing money distribution' and 'fixing the economy'.

This article was very surprising to me as I did not know that China had to restrict the usage of such apps in order to control the youths of its population. I feel it is rather restricting as China, especially its schools can have a competitive and stressful environment and children should be allowed to destres by scrolling through social media and gaming at their will, but of course not excessively. Three hours a week of gaming was very surprising and i feel bad for those who have to abide by these limits. Maybe instead of restrictions, they could observe and stop the over-usage of applications?

I think that these restrictions are good during normal working days for children, but not during the holidays. The holidays is a time for us to relax and chill at our own pace, and not be restricted. However, nothing is unstoppable. The kids in china will find a way to hack pass these restrictions, and one day achieve victory.

I feel that the actions China is taking goes against the rights of children living there. Although gaming excessively is a bad thing, moderate amounts of gaming could actually help you to relieve stress, especially in China's growing and competitive society. The education system there is, I would say, a little over competitive as it pits students against one another instead of having students to focus on their weaknesses. They would feel the stress when it comes to exams and I feel that gaming would help them relieve a bit of this stress.

Addiction is an issue, and the government should take smaller steps instead of slapping 40 minutes a day. What should be done? 5 hours, 4:30, 4 hours, 3:30, and so on, until this goes down to 40 minutes.
Now THAT is good.

I feel that in the communist nature of China, the freedom of Chinese citizens would gradually ddecrease over time. This new rule is extremely unfair to not only kids, but also to the gaming companies, who depend on gaming for their income. Therefore, I feel what China has done is very communist, and we should do that in SIngapore.
