A synthetic polymer is important in our daily life as it gives benefits to us such as we use paper and plastic bags every day. However, synthetic polymers can harm the environment because most of them are disposed of in landfills which can lead to land pollution. Other than that, synthetic polymers are non-biodegradable which makes them a permanent waste that took more than a year to decompose. Last but not least, one of the ways on how to decompose synthetic polymer is by combustion which results in the release of harmful gases and causes air pollution. This can also give bad impacts on human health such as lung cancer and asthma.

Synthetic polymers are commonly known as plastics. Upon hearing the word plastic, we will often be reminded about the consequences of plastic usage. Most synthetic polymers are non-biodegradables which are hardly to decompose and it would take more than 20 years. Once all these synthetic polymers were used, those will be dumped in the landfills. Thus, the more synthetic polymers we use, the more trash we produce. However, it is undeniably true that we need synthetic polymers in our daily life. It provide comfort and convenience. Therefore, with the enhancement of technology nowadays, we should create a more eco-friendly plastic. For instance biodegradable products are less harmful. Also we need to cut down our daily usage of plastic by practicing no plastic week once a while. Besides, implementing the 3R (reduce, reuse, recycle)could help us in controlling ourselves from using plastics too much.
