Living life with listening to the common stereotypes lowers ones self esteem and limits the way one thinks and makes one feel trapped with having less capability to reach ones goals just because of the stereotypes.
How did reading or viewing the source help you understand your topic better?
Reading this poem made me realize that these are the most common stereotypes that are said. This relates to the stuff that i hear in a daily bases which is sad how people are labeled like this and every once in a while believe it too.
How did the creator of the text get these ideas across to the reader or viewer?
The creator got these ideas across by using the most common stereotypes to reach out to those whom have been told such things. Some of them leaving an impact to those who have already been told stereotypes.

http://news.stanford.edu/news/2009/february25/stereotype-threat-harms-latent-ability-022509.html
How does this source relate to your topic?
This article relates to my article because it supports the idea on how stereotypes have an effect on how one thinks about themselves. In the article it mentioned that stereotypes have an effect on blacks and Hispanics to under-preform the SAT by about 40 points. This supports the theme overall that is being talked about on how stereotypes can lead to mental thoughts about oneself which can be a factor of self doubt.
How did reading or viewing the source help you understand your topic better?
Reading this article helped me understand that stereotypes just don't affect one mentally but also physically. It makes it to where one doesn't have the opportunity to reach their full potential in the class room because the victims of these stereotypes are to worried about what is being said about them versus paying attention on what actually matters, like school.
How did the creator of the text get these ideas across the reader or viewer?
The creator of the text got his ideas across by stating facts and actual examples that one can relate to in order to create a connection with the reader. This is what establishes a connection instantly therefore making it easier to get his point across by using facts, using the emotional appeal, and creating a connection

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0eLH0GOXlCM
How does the source relate to your topic?
This song, Same Love, written by Macklemore and Ryan Lewis is a song that talks about stereotypes that Macklemore would go through growing up in which it would make him ponder is he was gay. This relates to my theme because all the labels he would get labeled as going through made him think about himself mentally about how he felt about himself. This shows how once people start to label someone something after so long and so many times, one actually starts to believe it, even though one knows its not true.
How did reading or viewing the source help you understand your topic better?
Reading the lyrics to this song made me understand that racial stereotypes are not just the most common stereotypes, if not other stereotypes such as gender. This article has also helped me understand the actual pain and suffering this artist went through, which allows me to connect with the artist with experiences in my past.
How did the creator of the text get these ideas across the reader?
The creator of the song got his ideas across by talking about a series of events that he lived through growing up, which allows one to connect with those whom have gone through the same thing. He uses emotion when he sings the song to which is a factor on how he presents the song to the audience, thus showing the audience the emotions he felt when growing up and thinking he was gay because of the stereotypes.

By being labeled by the usual stereotypes and being held up to them it makes one feel unsafe and changes the way one feels about themselves, just as its shown in the picture above.
How did reading or viewing the source help you understand your topic better?
Viewing this cartoon made me better understand the topic by seeing the different point of view of other people or "other races" on how they depict the stereotypes that they are held up to.
How did the creator of the text get these ideas across to the reader?
The creator of this cartoon got his/her ideas across by catching the readers/viewers attention by using something, such as getting shot at and death, in order to show that these stereotypes can be deadly and harmful when everyone believes them and label people just by the color of their skin. This can relate on how one sees themselves because some can actually believe the labels and start doing it and some can stay paranoid or scared because o whats said about them
