Task 2:

Strength and Challenge:

One strength of my mentoring relationship is the presence of open and trusting communication, which allows the mentee to confidently share both her challenges and achievements without hesitation.

One challenge

I am currently facing is supporting the mentee in developing greater independence by encouraging her to generate her own solutions rather than relying on reassurance or direct guidance.

Task 3:

Strategy Focus:

I have chosen coaching as my focus strategy because it promotes reflective thinking and empowers the mentee to identify solutions independently. By using purposeful questioning and active listening, coaching will help strengthen our mentoring relationship while encouraging Mehrunnisa to become more confident, self-directed, and reflective in her professional practice.

TASK 1:

“Where is your current mentoring relationship with your mentee on the balance between support and challenge?”

My mentoring relationship with my mentee is balanced between support and challenge. I provide guidance and encouragement while gently pushing the mentee to reflect, make decisions, and take ownership of their growth.

TASK 2:-Session 6: Building Relationships and Growing Together

One strength of my mentoring relationship is the strong foundation of trust and mutual respect, which enables open communication, honest reflection, and a safe space for my mentee to discuss challenges and seek guidance confidently.

One challenge, is ensuring that the strong sense of trust and comfort does not lead to over-dependence, and that my mentee is gradually encouraged to think independently, take initiative, and make confident decisions on their own maintaining the right balance between providing support and offering constructive challenge. At times, my mentee looks for reassurance rather than engaging deeply in self-analysis and independent problem-solving.

Moving Forward is… taking ownership of action steps. While guidance is helpful, my mentee would benefit from being gently challenged to set clear goals, implement agreed strategies, and reflect on outcomes more independently.

TASK 3:

Selected Strategy: Co-planning

I have chosen co-planning because it encourages shared ownership, collaboration, and open dialogue between the mentor and mentee. Working together to plan lessons allows me to provide support while also appropriately challenging my mentee to think critically about objectives, activities, and assessment. This strategy strengthens our mentoring relationship by building trust, promoting professional confidence, and gradually developing the mentee’s independent planning skills.

TASK 4:

“What will I do differently moving forward to strengthen my mentoring relationship?

Moving forward, I will be more intentional about balancing support with constructive challenge. I will encourage my mentee to lead discussions, set their own goals, and reflect more deeply on their practice, while I take on a facilitative rather than directive role. I will also follow up consistently on agreed action steps and celebrate progress, which will help strengthen trust, accountability, and professional growth within our mentoring relationship.

I provide consistent guidance and resources, and I ensure my mentee feels encouraged and heard. At the same time, I am beginning to introduce challenges by asking reflective questions and prompting them to take initiative in solving problems independently. This balance helps build trust while promoting growth.

2.
