         <description><![CDATA[<p>Proteins are made up of amino acids, which are the monomer of proteins, but when bonded together, those amino acids are called polypeptides. Amino acids are bonded together by peptide bonds in a specific order. </p><p>The order of amino acids leads to the structure and shape of the protein, which is crucial to the function of the protein. </p><p>Those polypeptides make up proteins from the four levels of protein structure:</p><ul><li><p>Primary Structure - Amino acids are linked together making a straight chain</p></li><li><p>Secondary Structure - The sequence of amino acids is bonded by hydrogen bonds white creates folds in the chain. Commonly found as alpha helix's or beta sheets.</p></li><li><p>Tertiary Structure - A three dimensional polypeptide structure </p></li><li><p>Quaternary Structure - A structure made of more than one amino acid chain</p></li></ul>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<p>1) <strong>Storage</strong> - proteins store and carry nutrients like vitamins and blood sugar.</p><p>Ex. albumin </p><p><br></p><p>2) <strong>Transportation</strong> - proteins help transport different things throughout your body such as oxygen</p><p>Ex. hemoglobin.</p><p><br></p><p>3) <strong>Regulatory</strong> - proteins regulate enzyme activities in other words it watches over cell behavior</p><p>Ex. hormones.</p><p><br></p><p>4) <strong>Movement</strong> - proteins are allowed to move freely so it can perform other functions like transportation</p><p><br></p><p>5) <strong>Structure</strong> - proteins can form or rebuild structures</p><p>Ex. hair growth, wound healing</p><p><br></p><p>6) <strong>Enzymes</strong> - proteins that are bio catalysts lowers activation energy and acts upon a substrate</p>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<ul><li><p>The monomer of protein is the <strong>amino acid</strong>. </p></li><li><p>They consist of a carbon atom bonded to an amino group, a hydrogen atom, a carboxyl group, and an R group.</p></li><li><p>The <strong>amino group</strong> is made of a nitrogen atom bonded to 2 hydrogen atoms.</p></li><li><p>The <strong>carboxyl group</strong> is made up of a carbon atom double bonded to an oxygen atom and bonded to a hydroxyl(1 oxygen and 1 hydrogen).</p></li><li><p>The <strong>R group</strong> is the group that makes certain amino acids different. There are 20 types of amino acids and the difference between them is the R group. </p></li></ul>]]></description>
