Monument Valley

Monument Valley is located in northern Arizona, right next to the Utah border. This place is so dear to my heart and I feel close to my ancestral history here. The Native tribes my family comes from (Apache and Pueblo) lived in this region for thousands of years before Spanish colonizers deemed the land theirs. It was a part of Mexico until 1846 after the Mexican-American war. It always feels like coming home when I get back to the red rock.

The Beach

Colombia

My mother is from the country of Colombia, which is located in South America. Its a beautiful country that I visit almost every year and I go see my family. Amazing food, culture, landscape. My mother last name Cordoba, If I'm not mistaken comes from the city Cordoba, Spain. My dad is African American and his ancestry is from Cameroon, Nigeria and other places in West Africa. Different Languages

This image shows different pieces of paper communicating "Thank You" in different languages. My table group sees this picture as if we are all one piece of paper, with our own separate languages and shapes and colors. We are all our own piece of paper, if that makes sense. This image is representing uniqueness and is kind of an analogy, but I really think we could incorporate an art form like this in the mural! :D

Guam & Puerto Rico

Guam is an island that is about a 19 hour flight straight for Seattle. I'm assuming you know what/where Puerto Rico is, and I love going to both of hose places. I go to each one usually every year because my parents are from there. When I go to Guam I get to visit my family and their friend. One of my favorite things there is food. Sooooooo much meat, fish, and coconut (Its a tropical island). In Puerto Rico I get to practice my Spanish and get soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo much piragua.

Arepas are a type of food that is common in Colombia and Venezuela. In Venenzuela, They come with meats and cheeses, While in Colombia we eat it by its self or with eggs or coffee. They are something that I love about Colombian culture.

My mom grew up in cuernavaca and saw Popocatépetl every day when going to school. When I was born she told me many stories about Popocatépetl and she showed me a lot of pictures about Popocatepetl and everytime I picture where my mom grew up I think of this volcano.
