This quote is explaining to us how people in San Fransico think that slavery was not a part of their good city, but Maya says that these people are wrong. </div>]]></description>

(page 209) This quote talks about when Maya notices the Japanese leaving because of World War 2. Them disappearing proves how segregated the world was, because they were all forcibly moved to another area, and then the black people moved in and turned everything into their own.</div>]]></description>
