They knew which roads to take, and sent an animal, Xan, to gather information. This was a mosquito that suck the blood of the men on the road and learned their names this way. It also discovered that 2 of the men seated were wooden figures.

With this, the boys could greet each of the lords by their names, something the lords didn't want them to know. They tried to hurt them by telling them to seat in a hot stone, but they noticed this and told them.

While on xibalba the lords challenged the boy to cut some flowers and to bring them, the lords instructed the guards Hun-Camé and Vucub-Camé to keep the flowers safe from the boys.


While the boys were in the room of knives they managed to remain alive, and they asked the ants to bring the flowers that the lords had requested. The ants agreed and proceeded to the garden where Hun-Camé and Vucub-Camé were taking care of the flowers.

The next day the boy brought the flowers to the lords of Xibalba, they were astonished that the task was complete (they were expecting that Hun-Camé and Vucub-Camé would killed them in their attempt to cut the flowers) then the lords and the twins started playing ball but all the matches ended in draw.

Then the boys entered the house of cold, which they managed to survive by the heat of logs they were burning,

Then they entered the house of jaguars, were the boys gave the jaguars bones and avoided to be bitten by the jaguars.

The boys made a fire with logs and survived.

The House of Jaguars was next, in there the brothers threw bones to the jaguars in order to survive, they succeeded and the Lords were impressed and angered.

In the House of Bats, the boys slept inside the blowguns until the bats stopped making noises. Hunahpú looked out of the mouth to seek light and his head was cut off by Camazotz. They were given pine sticks and cigars which must be returned whole by the next day. Because of this, they didn’t light the sticks of pone, but rather put a red thing over them or some feathered so they looked lighter. They also attached fireflies to the end of the cigars for the same purpose. 

Everyone though they would get defeated but the lords learned they met the conditions and summoned them and invited them to play ball instead.

Still they insisted and they accepted. The lords immediately threw it at the ring of Hunahpú and grasped the handle of the knife of flint while the ball bounced around the court. Hunahpú and Xbalanqué realized they wanted to kill them and announced their exit. The lords thought they could overcome them in the court but couldn’t. They suggested to play ball but with their ball now. And the boys drove their ball through the ring of Xibalba, winning. 

The lords still wanted to overcome them so they sent them to get some flowers. Branches of red, white, yellow and carinimac.

The grandmother send a messenger to let the boys know about the game. The louse was the first one, then came a toad, after the toad, a snake, and after the snake, a hawk.
