The human heart is divided into four cavities. In the upper part are the right and left atria and, in the lower part, the right and left ventricles. It is common to designate the right atrium and ventricle set by "right heart" and the equivalent set on the left by "left heart". In a healthy heart, the heart valves cause the blood inside the heart to flow in a single direction, preventing its reflux. The heart is surrounded by the pericardium, a sac-like protective membrane that contains a small amount of fluid. The wall of the heart consists of three layers: the epicardium, the myocardium, and the endocardium. The heart of the remaining mammals and birds also has four cavities. Today's society's habits, such as poor diet, sedentary lifestyle, stress and excessive use of toxic substances such as tobacco and alcohol, lead to the appearance of pathologies in the cardiovascular system. There is also the possibility of the individual being born with a cardiac (congenital) pathology, usually due to poor feeding of the mother during pregnancy; however, most heart conditions are acquired over the years. Diseases that affect the heart are classified as: Coronary artery disease (including infarction or infarction); Changes in heart rate (arrhythmias); Cardiac arrest; Diseases of the heart valves; Congenital heart diseases; Cardiomyopathies; Pericarditis; Dysfunctions of the aorta (Marfan syndrome); Vascular diseases.
