After Gwen Cummings the main character a 30 year old white female of mid class gets into an accident after driving under the influence of alcohol she is mandated to attend an inpatient program. The patient has a strong social life and a long term boyfriend however, the clients family is not fully present in her life due to her disorder.
2. (see ASAM)
3.(see discharge plan)
4. Overall, the assignment will help students in the future as they go into assessing clients and doing continued stay reviews. The group learned that doing an ASAM is straight forward work and only gets easier with practice however, the format will be different in every agency. The group felt pretty confident in doing this assignment as the group was turning to previous ASAM's done as reference. In the future the group will use this assignment as a tool as they go into their addictions career.

Individually, we all felt overwhelmed by the assignment mostly due to not being confident in our knowledge. We all agreed that doing this as a group highlighted each of our own personal input resulting in a better result.
B) Melissa learned that family members do not realize how long the recovery process can take. Sabrina learned that cooccurring mental disorders play a large role in recovery and relapse potential. Lara learned that the ASAM and continued stay can be a useful tool in determining appropriate levels of care for those suffering from substance use disorders.
C) We all feel that this assignment was good practice for later in our career. By practicing, we become more efficient.

This assignment was very helpful because it walked you through the entire process of working with a client including the initial assessment, the treatment planning, the continued stay review, and the discharge. The movie character was beneficial in having a mutual understanding in the group of the client. This assignment will aid us in our future work with client given that we have been exposed to the major process, and can work to simply adjust it as needed depending on our future job agency.
