She’ll close and be herself whilst our poor malice Remains in danger of her former tooth” (III, ii, 15-17)
- Macbeth
This quote shows how Shakespeare uses a metaphor to describe how vile Macbeth believes Duncan’s family line is. Macbeth wants to do away with all who can take his ‘right’ to throne. This truly shows his greed and desire for power. This also proves the fact that power shifts in favor of Macbeth when he wants to be king.

Laugh to scorn The power of man, for none of woman born Shall harm Macbeth." (lV, i, 79-81)
- Second Apparition
This quote helps represent who should have power because it relates to how Macbeth was told to act while he still had power. He was told to act merciless so that he would "not" be defeated. This helps show how we all have a different idea of who should have power, in this example Macbeth was to be merciless and brave to have power. There are qualities to who should have power, not a specific person.

They have the power to control and manipulate his mind . Macbeth loses power here as he puts his trust in something supernatural and could possibly lead him astray. He has no control over what is real or just a mind game.

Power presents itself in many ways throughout the play Macbeth. It is seen through the three witches when they tell Macbeth his fate knowing that his ambition would lead to his downfall. Power is also shown when Macbeth has already killed Duncan and is telling Lady Macbeth all the other murderous acts that he must commit in order to remain in power. Power can manifests itself in various ways but in Macbeth, power is being in an authoritative position. Overall, power is presented as being more dominant over other people whether it be psychological or physical.

It 's night’s predominance or the day’s shame That darkness does the face of Earth entomb.''
(ll, iv, 5-9)
- Ross
This quote helps show how in Macbeth, the heavens are right because they were trying to punish the town for the death of Duncan, the natural born king. Every time Macbeth killed someone strange things would happen, things that only the gods could control. It showed how the gods were not okay with what Macbeth did by killing good people. Showing that higher power is the only one that really knew what was right from wrong.

"Fear not, till Birnam wood Do come to Dunsinane" (V, v, 41-45)
- Macbeth
This quote describes the way that power is shown psychologically through the witches because they play games with Macbeth's mind, which cause conflicted ideas within himself. The witches explained to him earlier that Macbeth would not have to worry about his power being taken away until Birnam wood moved. Knowing that the woods cannot move, Macbeth would not worry, but now the power the witches had manipulated his mind and turned him to defeat.
