Thanks to the course not only do I feel more confident in using technology in the classroom but I am also excited to try out and explore a variety of new tools, apps and web services to engage students in my classes and enhance their learning. I think that my classes will become more dynamic, interactive and engaging for my students due to the use of a variety of collaborative tools discussed during the course. I also hope to make the classes more fun for my students by introducing a number of gaming elements through the use of apps such as Quizlet Live.

I believe both collaborative learning and gamification are the key elements, which can help enhance my students’ learning and increase engagement and student achievement.

I will definitely use the following tools in the future with my classes:
 
Padlet – Even though I used Padlet in the classroom this summer on an online PSE course, I learnt how to use it more effectively during this course. My favourite activity, which I’m going to adopt in my own classes is the ‘Getting To Know You’ activity. I am also planning to use Padlet for brainstorming sessions, and e.g. asking students to choose and comment on two of their classmates’ favourite ideas, as well as end-of-course reflections. In addition, I might use it for Poster Presentations.

Quizlet Live - for learning and revising academic word list, instruction verbs, definitions to help students revise essay or academic presentation structure, etc. I think this is a very interactive and collaborative tool, which can help me engage students in the beginning of the lesson (effective ice-breaker), during the lesson (to change the lesson pace) and at the end of the class (a fun way to wrap up my lessons/summary of key learning points).

Embedding the content (e.g. videos or Padlet) directly on the VLE page – to allow students to interact with the content without leaving the VLE.

Google Docs & Google Slides - for collaborative activities, projects, editing assignments, poster presentations

Self-study tools I will definitely recommend to my students:

Oxford Text Checker / Flax Language Learning – for proofreading own essays and other pieces of writing / help with collocations/prepositions etc. (particularly useful for advanced level learners)
Quizlet – for learning/revising academic vocabulary
Ted Ed – for practicing listening to lectures and note-taking
Google voice typing - for practicing presentation skills and improving pronunciation (all levels)

I would like to explore various tools and techniques for creating content for flipped teaching and learning. I am particularly interested in exploring the use of screen casting software tools such as Loom, Screencast-O-Matic, Panopto and Adobe Spark in order to create engaging videos for the flipped classroom.

Another area I would like to explore is hybrid teaching and learning. Hybrid sessions have become increasingly popular recently due to the pandemic. I would be interested to hear the experiences of teachers who have already started teaching in this mode. I would also be keen to explore the use of tools, such as Quizlet Live, Padlet or Google Docs/Google Slides and other collaborative tools in the context of virtual and hyflex classroom sessions. It would abe interesting to see model practical techniques for dealing with technology, particularly in the hybrid sessions.
