Macbeth says "If chance will have me King, why, chance may crown me without my stir"(act 1 scene 3). With this reaction, it shows that Macbeth was believing the sisters and wasn't doubting a thing they said or if what they said was true or not as in he was looking forward to it. Usually, when someone tells you someone says something good in a person, they don't deny it and most of the time let it get to their heads as in being conceited. Banquos reaction to the prophecy was a little different that Macbeths. Banquo was very suspicious and was doubting that anything that the witches said was true. Banque tells Macbeth "That might yet enkindle you unto the crown, but tis' strange. And oftentimes, to win us to our harm"(act 1 scene 3). Banquo in this quote is very concerned about the prophecy and doesnt want to believe it due to Macbeth being "better" than him.
