Some teachers reject a textbook-based approach to learning because textbooks are outdated or do not cover a topic or subject sufficiently. The arts and crafts teach children in a variety of ways, and they approach problems and challenges in creative ways. The process of creating helps students get in touch with a different side of themselves that they cannot access through other subjects, such as maths and science. According to the Raise Smart Kids website, arts and crafts programmes are often the first to be cut from school budgets in difficult financial times and this can have an impact on a child's learning process.
