1. A contemporary example of social change happening anywhere in the world right now.

I used this meme to illustrate the change we are facing now in the world due to the COVID-19 crisis. Now we must minimize the amount of time we spend outside our homes and we can see this in the meme because before COVID-19 we could just go out with our friends but now we have to stay home and meet with them online.

2. Collective behavior

As an example of Collective behavior I chose a speech from the 35th U.S. President John F. Kennedy in which he explains that Americans are working hard to achieve the goal to get a man to the moon. This is an example of collective behavior because there are a lot of people working to make this possible and he is encouraging all Americans to work hard as well not just to get a man on the moon but because they care about their country. This creates a sense of patriotism an encourages people to work together to achieve a common goal. This speech reached all Americans at the time and encouraged them to keep working hard.

3. Structural-Functional Perspective: Modernity as a Mass Society

This poster is an example of structural functional perspective because the people that support owing guns do it because they see nothing wrong with owning them, they think that only good people are going to have one and that it only brings good things to the country. Even if guns bring bad things to everyone, they will still think is a good thing to have them because they are taking a structural functional perspective approach.

Here is the opposite example of a structural-functional perspective on the same topic. Here we see people that think that we are not living the way we are supposed to and that we need to abolish guns because society way better without them.

5. Symbolic Interactionist Perspective: Modernity and the Individual

This is a drawing showing how two people are thinking on resting next to the tree. This is an example of symbolic interaction because they are thinking very differently. The woman thinks it would be relaxing while the man thinks that it wouldn’t because all kinds of bugs and animals will bother them. This same thing is making two people think in a different way which is what symbols are all about.

This is an example of Postmodernity because it shows how people used to be segregated based on the color of their skin and it was often related to the belief that black people were inferior to white people which makes no sense because all men and woman are capable of the same things no matter their race or nationality and this sort of going a step back as a society, especially after World War 2 in which all Americans, no matter their appearance fought for the nation.
