She feeds the reader this story, full of joy and choices, but then reveals the truth by combining imagery, irony, and tone to show up the  true horrors of Omelas. Le Guin writes about this to make the reader have an internal struggle about what they think is correct and what should be done.

Through the use of sensory details, brutal imagery and allusions, he creates his message while also saying that black and white people can fight in wars and die together, yet they cannot sit in the same schools to learn together, and this must change.


 
 King conveys his message to the people of America to show that these issues are serious and must be resolved.
