This tree reminds that even though nature can be harsh, it also provides respite from tough conditions like extreme weather. Trees are in full bloom when we need shelter from the heat. This reminds me of Indian Horse which is a bit of a cheat because we haven't read it in the class yet, but I love this novel. Nature plays an important role as you will see.

Through tough times, we can seek nature to heal ourselves. This path can represent the dazzling path seen in the short story “strawberry” by Terri Monture. The path is located near one of the exits of the school. The scenery was so pretty that it reminded me of a scene in the short story. It represents the strawberry path—life of death path in the last paragraph of the story. Even though school may be hard, at the end of the day, we will all walk the same path.

These group of flowers where only a few bloomed reminds me of how unfair the world of the Indigenous People were. Like in the story, Beyond This World, it shows how only a few of Indigenous People lived it through an unjust society and how some died trying. The flowers that had successfully bloomed symbolizes the few who had lived through a hard life, and the flowers that had died symbolizes the most who died trying.

Another thing that reminds me of the flowers was how the world works as well. Like gardening. Gardening also sometimes would depend on luck. Its how the world also works.

The roots of the tree are deeply rooted in the dirt and only a mushroom next to it, like the Totem Pole in the story "Totem" by Thomas King. The sound of the totem highlights their struggle not to be forgotten and buried, and they are as persistent and resilient as the tree’s root in the dirt. A separate mushroom hidden by leaves seems like an indigenous without assistance. No matter how bad the circumstances are, they will try to grow and let people discover its existence.
