Image Summaries:

Throughout these five photos and classroom learning, the villagers in Salem were extremely religious. Displayed in image one, we see how simple things like being ill would change the mindset of someone immediately, one minute they could be enjoying their lives being alive and the next minute they could be begging and praying to their lord that their family member is safe. They believed anything someone would say no matter the illogical or logical evidence shown in most of these cases because of their extreme passion for God and his holy word. In image number five we see how the puritans were to dress; which is a very mannerly fashion with women wearing lots of layers to just barely show the face whilst the men wore nearly carbon copies of the women’s attire, most likely due to the cold weather and religious rules. In images three and four we see how the trials end, with a death that someone did not deserve to undergo in this time period, those images show how cruel the 1600’s must’ve been for the pruritans since everyone was on their toes at the time.

Thoughts about The Crucible:

I feel as though The Crucible displays a very vivid visual of what the Salem witch trials must’ve been like since the creator of the play, Arthur Miller wrote the play around the same time he was accused of being a communist during the beginning of the 1900’s. Although he didn’t become successful during his time, the play has made history via history of the play and the plays plot. I’m very excited to learn more about the Salem witch trials as well as The Crucible.
