Looking back: So much of your looking back resonated with me, especially the importance of quality relationships and the understanding that people who aren't there for you don't matter and your comment about not wanting to be your parents and repeat their mistakes while being grateful for them. You showed self-awareness and vulnerability through this exercise that I was really grateful for. You are clearly someone who commits, works hard, and doesn’t take anything in life for granted.

Looking back: I was inspired by how dancing kind of shaped who you are. Dancing will continue to give you inner strength. I was impressed by how deep the bonding was between you and your parents. You were genuine about both the upside and downside (communication issue as you mentioned). I just couldn’t imagine how I’d get through if I was blind for 3 weeks. You are just so strong and so blessed to have family beside you.

I really connected with your experience last fall. It was so crazy to listen to your story and feel such a sense of connection (from understanding who your people are, to what’s important in life, to the surreal experience of watching Kellogg life when you are living through shit). I am sorry we both had to go through that ‘alone’ in many ways but I am so grateful to know you now.  

I see you as a leader who inspires who values creative and uniqueness in herself and her team members. You lead by instilling a positive outlook and creating spaces for harmony and collaboration. 

These all made it easier to take an interest in your story, which I think really made it possible to connect.  Your struggle with your eyesight impacted my own realization that I cannot take my health for granted, and better empathize with those who do not enjoy the same fortune.  

I admire the quiet ambition revealed by your goal to start your own business.  I think that this can take advantage of your values and strengths but also address your needs in a really positive way.

Looking Back Thoughts: I really appreciated how vulnerable you were willing and able to be during the looking back exercise. I have always admired the strength of mind required to open up about deeply personal subjects that are often difficult to talk about. That’s a journey that I have just barely begun to scratch the surface of and yet you do it so well – I think the fact that you are so honest about your own experiences to yourself makes you amazing about staying true to your values and goals. I also enjoyed hearing about your passion for your hobbies and future goals through your vision exercise. Really excited for you as you start a new chapter both personally and professionally!
