Injuring Myself on Concrete

A few years ago, I fell from a ledge and fell on my head onto a slab of concrete. Although I was lucky enough to live without any major injuries other than a large bruise, I had to be thankful to the doctors and my parents that allowed me to recover to a healthy state without having to heal on my own.

Although I have not met every single person that has helped me in life, I believe that they have shaped my ethical beliefs. They have indirectly affected my ethical beliefs by requiring me to work on my own while still contributing to the greater community. Through community work and by interacting with local businesses, I was able to see how working for more than just my interests is the moral thing to do.

These organisations force me to face the true reality of the world and allows me to look beyond the community of friends and family I surround myself in. These charities allow me to see the situations of others I may never see which also allowed me to learn to be mindful of others, even if I may never meet them.

Civil Rights Movement

I have never lived during the era of the Civil Rights Movement and I do not wish to do so even if I had the choice to do so. Despite this, I feel that this era in history had a profound impact on my view on ethics as a whole. These heroes of this era showed to me that injustice needs to be fought and defeated in order to reach a better society.
