Este modelo educativo, impulsado en los últimos años, busca una transformación educativa que promueva valores de equidad, justicia social, diversidad cultural y respeto por los derechos humanos. La historia es sin duda fundamental para alcanzar estos objetivos debido a que la historia fomenta una visión crítica sobre los procesos sociales y políticos, también ayuda a reforzar la identidad y diversidad cultural , apoya a construir una ciudadania democrática al aprender sobre la lucha de independencia, la revolución mexicana, la construcción de la democracia y los derechos humanos.
