I found a bright and beautiful butterfly yesterday. She has bright colors that could be used to scare off predators by making them think she is dangerous. The rat would die without it's dark fur color making it an easy target for preditors and humans to see either eating it or screaming and running scaring the rat. Antlers serve many roles such as for defense, but the elk specifically use them mostly for mating. During mating season, male elk spar with each other over the right for female elk and the antlers are a show of an elk's health and abilities.
