         <description><![CDATA[<p>1.&nbsp; When I consider the climbers' point of view, I realize that climbing is a sacred activity and that I feel it should be considered as such, but I also realize that it is not a religious activity.</p><p>2.&nbsp; The elders'  may feel that climbers climbing Devils' Tower is a disgraceful and shameful act  <em>because </em>it is violating their spiritual and historical use of the tower, but some climbers feel that by climbing and "feeling the power" of the tower is also a way for them to connect to the earth or to their spirit or God as well.</p><p>3.&nbsp;The climbers' might have thought they too shared a spiritual connection to the tower just like the Lakota people <em>because </em>the tower is a source of great natural beauty and power.</p>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<p>1.&nbsp; When I consider the elders point of view, I realize that the climbers are disrespecting the elders by being noisy by driving spikes into the face of the tower, by talking loudly while the elders are praying, and by using language that is not appropriate to the elder's ceremonies-- all of this make the elders feels the climbers are not respecting their wishes.</p><p>2.&nbsp; The (the elders) may (think) climbing Devils' Tower is wrong <em>because they make so much noise to climb the tower to the elder and find it disrespectful to them and there tribe</em>.</p><p>3.&nbsp; (The elders might have (felt) that it's disrespectful <em>because </em>it brings too much (<strong>convent)?</strong> to their tribe and their people and it is also a shame to have prayer time interupted.</p>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<p>1.&nbsp; When I consider the elders point of view, I realize that they will disrespecting the peace on the land and the climbers are just interfering a special religion and destroying sacred property and they make such a laud noise that the elders tried concentrating on the prayer and their prayer they consider them as disrespectful on the month of June as they may consider as the climbers are a disgrace to their religion.</p><p>2.&nbsp; The climbers may think climbing the Devils' Tower is a sign of disrespect  <em>because </em>it's sacred land so climbing on Native land is a disturbing of peace for the people and their religion-ed spirits on the land.</p><p>3.&nbsp; The elders' might have thought the climbers are being disrespectful <em>because </em>they are just looking for a fun climbing session for their own or just curious about what's at the top of the Devils Tower and the elders think it's a sign of disrespect for the tribal land that is home to all ancient sacred spirits and the people.</p>]]></description>

Climbers could be noisy and loud, and I wouldn't want to be interrupted during prayer.</p><p>3. After all in their opinion climbing the mountain is their spiritual impact that they consider is similar to the tribes way of thinking.          <description><![CDATA[<ol><li><p>&nbsp; When I consider elders' point of view, I realize that they do not want any non-indians of surrounding areas to go and visit the Devil's Tower or to even step foot onto the area. The elders believe that the tower should only be closed off to the non-indians and should only be open for the Lakota people and the members. They believe that it is only for them and is their own sacred place of prayer. I also realize that they are very strong in their beliefs and prayers as the Lakota people. </p></li><li><p>&nbsp; The elders' may feel climbing Devils' Tower is very disrespectful and isn't something that non-indians should do at all <em>because that place is only a place of worship for the Lakota people that live near the Devil's Tower. They believe that the place is only for them and that they should ban climbing it just for fun. Elders feel that it should only be used for there own culture and none else. </em></p></li><li><p>The climbers might have thought that not being able to climb the Devil's Tower is a bit foolish <em>because </em>they have stated that the Devil's Tower is on federal land owned by the U.S government and that the Lakota people have no right to have ownership. As well as the say for them to ban climbing permanently. They also thought that the Lakota people could also find another place where they can have their prayer besides the Devil's Tower. They feel that they should have the freedom to climb on it any time that they want. </p></li></ol>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<p><strong>Talia P.2</strong></p><p><br/></p><p>1.&nbsp; When I consider the elders' point of view, I realize they should have been more serious when it comes to their culture and that they should have been telling the climber to stop and have respect for sacred areas.</p><p>2.&nbsp; The climbers' may think climbing the Devils' Tower is not bothering anyone <em>because </em>it's a national monument and it's public land but the climbers are wrong because th Lakota tribe have the land for sacred and religious reasons.</p><p>3.&nbsp; The elders' might have felt disrespected <em>because the non-Indians are climbing all over The Devils' Tower which is a sacred area that the Lakota tribe uses for religious purposes.</em></p><p><br/></p>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<p>1.&nbsp; When I consider climbers point of view, I realize that they dont really care about the tower.</p><p>2.&nbsp; The elders may feel climbing Devils' Tower is sad <em>because </em>its the Indians sacred place.</p><p>3.&nbsp;The climbers might have thought nothing of it <em>because </em>they didn't know nothing about the devils tower they thought it was just a mountain or something.</p>]]></description>
