In this slideshow, I wrote creative pieces in the form of vignettes and poems which were modeled off the novel House on Mango Street. There are three vignettes (My name, Identity Event, Coming of Age) and three poems (Bio Poem, Those Who Don't, Gender Roles). In each piece I focused on adding figurative language and using quality words to convey a certain mood.

This is a nonfiction piece where I compare the vignette "My Name" and the article "The Power Of Names". I discuss how names can have an impact on how people and things are viewed and that it can either be more positive or negative. I used text evidence from both the vignette and article to show the meaning.

Half A Moon/ Gone

Using the story, Half a Moon, I created a short story. In this story I added to the beginning of the original story. This connects to the story because I added more background information. I am most proud of the section where the dad leaves. I am proud of that section because I helped capture how the characters feel and included the word "gone" over and over, to add a different mood to the story.
