When we got there I stepped out of the car and my mom wanted to go towards one candidate and my father to the other. I saw them get into an argument, except for the fact my father didn't do anything. My mom pushed and yelled at my father but he didn't move. He wasn't "violent" in anyway and in other words, "turned the other cheek". Soldiers from the U.S. were shipping to islands near Japan to take over and stop the Japanese assault. The Americans were coming fast. We were set up and before you knew it. We had sent our first line to push them back. The Americans eventually made it to our back lines, still trying to push us back. I start to see some of them run closer to the bunker. An explosion goes off and this clears the way for the soldiers. They pour into our camp and it is too much to handle. I stood in the line and we moved forward. Eventually, I got to the front where they handed us a bowl of food. I went and sat down, started to eat, and noticed people taking off their shoes, and laying down. Some were going back to the cold outdoors. I decided to go to a bed and take off my shoes. There were people who tried to stop violence, but most of it shows that there was a lot of change in this time.
