Students were divided into groups and one got the ipad. They attempted a problem and we could see their work on the Smartboard. Our focus was on several of the SOS strategies(Divide and Slide, Gallery Walk, ....... ). But we also showed the Discovery Education web site and helped them navigate through it. We engaged the first-year teachers and worked with them through the SOS strategies and allowed them to lead the discussion we where having!

Students start working through the problem. After one minute the students stop working and crumble up their papers making “SNOWBALLS.” They then get a chance to throw the snowballs at me and I collect them. I then pass back the snowballs to other students. Then they have to start the problem where the other students left off. The process is repeated. This incorporates the C’s but specifically Communication and Collaboration. The students have to do higher order thinking to work on the problems.
